How Dramatherapy improved my Daughters independence?

I am a mum of a 19 year old young lady who has Autism, Conversion disorder, GAD, Anxiety, depression and sensory processing issues.

Since she was 11 my daughter has been seen on a 3 weekly basis by CAMH’s. As well as this in the past three years she has regular support from

  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy.
  • 121 at school/college
  • CPN
  • Social worker
  • Support worker
  • Psychiatrist

Within the past 12 months she has worked with a Dramatherapist. Since using the services of Inspirative Arts, my daughter has improved her ability to problem solve, to see other views and to manage her self harm tendencies and manage changes relating to college, including new study, new people and for the first time the ability to take exams.

If you look at my daughter’s records, since the age of 11 she has had numerous admittances to A and E throughout each year. Since she started with Inspirative Arts these have reduced and in the last year this has been reduced to zero. This intervention has been potentially life saving

Educationally my daughter has attended school more frequently and her attainment is improving.

Her self harm is stable, the first time in a long time.

Since using the services of Inspirative Arts, my daughter has improved her ability to problem solve, to see other views and to manage her self harm tendencies and manage changes relating to college, including new study, new people and for the first time the ability to take exams.

She is able to communicate with family much better and make informed decisions.

I believe this is down to the work of Rebecca (Dramatherapist).
